Salt air, and the rust on your door.
I never needed anything more.
But I can see us lost in the memory,
August slipped away into a moment in time.
Like a bottle of wine.
August by Taylor Swift – is there anything that girl can’t write about.
I don’t know about you, but to me it does feel like the days of this year are starting to slip away like a bottle of wine. Have you noticed the sun is already starting to set earlier?
Summer is a time to unplug but isn’t it also so tempting to try and squeeze in so much? Summer encourages a sense of spontaneity and adventure; with school breaks and longer evenings, there’s more room for last-minute road trips to the beach, lazy afternoons in the garden with a good book, or walks in foreign cities savouring the feeling of your sandals on new pavements.
But embracing summer isn't just about sunshine and vacations; it's about fully stepping into the season's spirit of vitality and renewal. Now is the time to slow down, soak in the moment, and be fully present of this season we’re in.
This month on A Little Yoga Space, we’re all about finding energy. Whether that’s through intentionally taking moments in the day to pause and breathe, or whether it’s through more active movement practices to get the blood pumping, it’s about finding 10-minutes a day for you to re-charge your batteries so you can go out there and enjoy August to the fullest. Whatever that looks like to you. Whether that’s a walk in a sun-dappled park, a dip in the sea or having friends round for a barbecue, it won’t be two-minutes ‘til we’re all asking, “have you put your heating on yet?!”
Join my Substack community where you’ll receive three new practices a week (a mixture of meditations and movement practices, plus access to the archive already posted) and give yourself a moment each day to embrace summer.
