Push through the restlessness
It’s been a few days since I wrote, but I’ve still been doing my daily practices.*
This week I finished Monday with a Yin practice which was full of Esther’s lovely words of wisdom - I love listening to what she has to say and it’s why I chose to do 100 practices with her. I find Yin hard to practice - the depth of the stretch can cause discomfort and I don’t get that lovely post-yoga buzz after it. This practice even had frog pose in it - one of my all-time toughest poses! I’m more of a restorative gal, just melting my way into bolsters and blankets, no exertion or tension in my muscles whatsoever! Yin on the other hand, is very mind over matter, and I could feel my brain whirring round. That’s when Esther said that the restlessness was part of it, accept it and “push through the restlessness”, there is no way but through.
I thought it was such a lovely class that it’s one I want to go back to. Just to listen to her words again. Not necessarily to repeat frog pose.
On Tuesday morning I started the day with a strength class that felt less like yoga and more like a slow LBT class - I wasn’t a fan of it. Even if it is good to keep my strength up. But then it actually inspire some of my lesson planning that day, so I ended up being really glad I did it!
This week has been strange - two really full-on busy days, and now Wednesday is so quiet, I don’t know what to do with myself . Even though I finally have the time to get stuck into something, I can feel my mind wandering. Time to push through the restlessness and get on my mat for my next practice - day 18!
How is your week going?
*Hi I’m Lucy and I’m currently completing 100 days of Yoga - not a challenge, but a re-discovering and re-igniting my practice. I’ve decided to practice with Esther Ekhart on the YogaEasy platform. Choosing the practices that feel meaningful to me on the day, and sharing my thoughts and what I’m learning along the way. Find out more here.
